Responsibilities

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage the daily operation of the Emergency Shelter in accord with government regulations, budgetary consideration, and expectations of the Chief Operating Officer.
  • Maintain schedule of the department.
  • Maintain a program that encourages a variety of evangelistic efforts with or through our guests.
  • Manage staff to assure that all employees under your care are motivated to provide efficient, loving and quality ministry for guests. Take care to regularly demonstrate concern for the staff and their personal interests.
  • Find ways to integrate volunteers in the ministry.
  • Available to speak to civic and church groups for public awareness and volunteer interest.
  • Maintain confidentiality of records or personal information that may become known in the course of working with the staff and guests.

Job Standards

  • Must have two years of Rescue Mission and/or management experience.
  • Must have Bachelor’s Degree in Bible, Business, Christian education, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Must maintain a neat, well-groomed appearance with wardrobe appropriate for management.
  • Ability to communicate verbally with guests, other helping agencies, church representatives, board members, the public, and other staff members.
  • Ability to read / write English and document transactions. Knowing Spanish as a second language would be a plus.
  • Must be honest, dependable and exhibit a warm, cheerful, caring manner.
  • Must be able to safely perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must have a valid Michigan driver’s license.
