Doud House Provides Transitional Housing for Teens

The Doud House is dedicated on July 12, 2024.

The Doud House is now open on the campus of Good Samaritan Rescue Mission in Bay City. This new facility provides transitional housing for youth ages 16-17 for up to 18 months.

“This project is the culmination of years of work,” said Rescue Ministries CEO Dan Streeter. “With the Samaritan Youth Shelter, Labadie Lofts and now the Doud House, we will be able to care even better for teens in need.”

Doud House is dedicated to the memory of Rick Doud, who was the first Samaritan Youth Services Administrator.

A dedication ceremony was held on July 12, 2024. In attendance were many of Rick’s family and friends, as well as Rescue Ministries board members, staff and supporters.

Doud House is a five-bed, transitional housing facility on the campus of Good Samaritan Rescue Mission. It helps youth ages 16-17 prepare for adulthood, offering up to 18 months of shelter, meals, mentoring, case management and vocational goal support. It is licensed and staffed 24 hours a day.

Doud House is part of Samaritan Youth Services, which also includes the Samaritan Youth Shelter and Labadie Lofts. The Samaritan Youth Shelter offers emergency shelter for up to 21 days to homeless youth ages 12 to 17. Labadie Lofts is a 10-unit, single-occupancy apartment complex for young adults who are pursuing full-time education or vocational training, and have experienced homelessness or are aging out of foster care.

If you know a young person in need of help, please contact the Samaritan Youth Shelter at 989-596-TEEN. Visit Samaritan Youth Services for more information. For additional pictures from the dedication ceremony, please visit our Facebook page.
