Responsibilities

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare spiritual-based, age-appropriate lessons for children and lead children during 9am chapel services.
  • Prepare and thoroughly document lesson plans that coincide with Life Skills class and Supportive Parenting Sessions for each Learning Center session.
  • Lead and teach age-appropriate Life Skills to children during Learning Center sessions- M, W, F (as needed) at CRM and Tu, Th, F (as needed) at GSRM.
  • Document case notes for each child in attendance of a Learning Center session and provide to the Director of Women’s Shelter Services/CRM & GSRM Shelter Directors weekly.
  • Lead and teach children in Learning Center during Family Case Management between 2:30pm-5pm.
  • Oversee when parents have earned individual family time in the Children’s Learning Center.
  • Sort and organize toy donations to be utilized in the Children’s Learning Center.

Job Standards

  • Must have a minimum of two years’ teaching experience.
  • Prefer to have Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or Early Childhood Development.
  • Must exhibit strong leadership, administrative, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate a working knowledge of computer equipment and software, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
  • Ability to communicate verbally with guests, including children, volunteers and other staff members.
  • Must have valid Michigan driver’s license.
  • Ability to verbally communicate with guests, families, the public, and other members of the staff.
  • Exhibit strong spiritual relationship with Christ through love and concern for guests.
  • Must be honest, dependable and exhibit a warm, cheerful and caring manner.
