Samaritan Youth Shelter offers short-term emergency shelter for up to 21 days to homeless youth ages 12 to 17 who have become isolated or separated from a place they can call home. Our staff also provides and coordinates access to local schools, counseling services, health care, vocational preparedness and other resources.

Founded in 2021, Samaritan Youth Shelter was developed in direct response to requests of local agencies working with youth. Until then, Bay and Arenac counties had no specialized facilities for homeless youth. 

Our goal is to reunite families as soon as it is safe and appropriate for the youth.

Doud House

Doud House is a five-bed, transitional housing facility on the campus of Good Samaritan Rescue Mission. It helps youth ages 16-17 prepare for adulthood, offering up to 18 months of shelter, meals, mentoring, case management and vocational goal support. It is licensed and staffed 24 hours a day.

The Doud House is dedicated to the memory of Rick Doud, who was our first Samaritan Youth Services Administrator. If you know a young person who may be a good candidate for Doud House, contact our Samaritan Youth Shelter.

Labadie Lofts

Labadie Lofts is a 10-unit, single-occupancy apartment complex on the campus of Good Samaritan Rescue Mission. It is intended for young adults who are pursuing full-time education or vocational training, and have experienced homelessness or are aging out of foster care. Labadie Lofts encourages a successful launch to life by providing clean, safe, supportive and affordable housing.
